Bullwhip Guy

There are churches all over that play Rob Bell's Nooma videos. I make no bones about it, Rob Bell ascribes to Universalism, Humanism and denies fundamental Christian teachings like the virgin birth, salvation by Grace through faith alone, etc.

Someone produced a very insightful and frankly staggering video to respond to Rob Bell's false understanding of who Jesus is.........watch and then of course send or post your comments.

More on the Seeker Sensitive Movement that Willow Creek states does not work.

This post over at Pyromaniacs is a great detailed assessment of the current status of Willow Creek. Click on the text below for the full article
"Consider, for example, that various critics of the Willow-Creek model have been saying these things for two decades:

1. Polling people to find out what they want and then giving it to them is an unbiblical approach to church growth (2 Timothy 4:2-4).
2. The so-called seeker-sensitive strategy actually stints discipleship.
3. It engenders worldliness and false conversions.
4. In fact, it's filling the church with people who think they are Christians but have no basis for that confidence because they have little or no true understanding of basic gospel truth—and no appetite for studying God's Word on their own."

Savin' Me......Nickelback saying what the world needs?

I have modified this post due to additional information. The only thing we can get from this is at least some of the secular world seems to be crying out for the Gospel. Or is that what they are really looking for?

Here are a few of the lyrics

Show me what it's like
To be the last one standing
And teach me wrong from right
And I'll show you what I can be
And say it for me
Say it to me
And I'll leave this life behind me
Say it if it's worth savin' me

The video has timers on individuals heads..........they need the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Change made to Book of Mormon

Small, but Important Change Made in Book of Mormon Introduction
November 8th, 2007 @ 4:00pm

Andrew Adams, KSL Newsradio

There's been a small but significant change to the Book of Mormon. It's in the introduction.

The old version said: "After thousands of years, all were destroyed except the Lamanites, and they are the principal ancestors of the American Indians."

The new version, which will first be seen in DoubleDay's revised edition reads, "After thousands of years, all were destroyed except the Lamanites, and they are among the ancestors of the American Indians."

Kerry Muhlestein, BYU ancient scripture assistant professor, says it's not a major change, but "in some ways, it may reflect that we weren't as careful writing the first introduction as we should have been."

Muhlestein says the change makes sense. He says, "The picture of the Book of Mormon and the peoples that the Nephites and Lamanites interact with is probably more complex than we have typically supposed or assumed."

Muhlestein says he doesn't believe it's in response to some DNA research that shows the continent's early inhabitants are of Asian descent.

AB--- I thought this was the most accurate book ever? Are more changes going to be incorporated?

True Believer

Here is a phenomenal sermon (go to True Believer) by my Pastor on the book of John 8 specifically on what a true believer is.

I highly recommend you listen to it, I believe it to be one of the best teachings on this subject I have ever heard. In addition while Pastor Hurlbutt was teaching I turned to my wife and said "Doesn't he sound like Paul Washer?"

Truly we are blessed that Bryan Hurlbutt is our Pastor and Teacher.

Bill Hybels says Seeker Method not working

I find it interesting that the Pragmatic movement that is commonly called the Seeker Sensitive Church's leader Bill Hybel is now denouncing his methods. This is truly an amazing statement coming from a guy who spent and has made millions in selling "Seeker Growth Model" Church planting and growing. In fact there are literally thousands of churches who are using his "methodology" which is not Biblical. What is even more interesting is that this is not a highly published message that I am linking to. So do all these seeker churches know that their founding father is stepping back from what they are still doing?

Listen to what Bill says here.

Bill Hybels:of Willow Creek Church said, "Some of the stuff we have put millions of dollars in ..hasn't helped people that much...other stuff our people are crying out for. For "preChristians"..we were rated very high. Even the new Christians, it was fairly good. Then we get to growing Christians, and the scores start going down, then we get to fully devoted followers to Christ and the scores got scare-ily low.. that really bothers me..I was like, "We're not helping them that much."
Bill said, "Why don't we do some focus groups. The survey group said, "Bill, we did that. They said, We're not being fed. They want more MEAT from the Word of God, more serious minded Scripture. " We should have gotten people to become self-feeders, read their Bibles between time....they are expecting the church to feed them when the more mature a Christian becomes they should become a self-feeder.

Reformation Day Martin Luther's quote

I have been reading Desiring God by John Piper. I am really enjoying this mainstay book that he wrote. On page 153 in dealing with Scripture and the joy that we should have in digesting God's Word he gives a little history of what went on during Martin Luther's trial.

The Archbishop of Trier poses Luther the question one last time: "Do you or do you not repudiate your books and the errors which they contain?

Luther replies:

Since then Your Majesty and Your Lordships desire a simple reply, I will answer without horns and without teeth. Unless I am convicted by Scripture and plain reason--I do not accept the authority of popes and councils, for they have contradicted each other--my conscience is captive to the Word of God. I cannot and I will not recant anything, for to go against conscience is neither right nor safe. Here I stand, I cannot do otherwise. God help me.

I praise God for this man who stood for the word of God despite all obstacles. How much are we standing for the Word of God today as churches fall into apostasy?
